The headquarters of the international cruise line Carnival Cruise Line are in Doral, Florida. Carnival Corporation & plc is the parent company of the business. Carnival Cruise Line has 24 ships in operation as of November 2022. They have placed an order for one more new ship, and a new joint venture agreement between Carnival and Costa will bring two more ships to the fleet in 2023 and 2024.
Ted Arison established Carnival Cruise Line in the year 1972. Arison turned to his friend Meshulam Riklis, owner of American International Travel Service (AITS), in Boston, for funding. The new company was established as an AITS subsidiary by Arison and Riklis. The new venture would be marketed and promoted by AITS. Riklis sold AITS’ interest in the company to Arison in 1974 for $1, subject to Arison taking on the substantial company debts because of regulatory issues. Arison was able to establish new connections with independent travel agents as a result of the split. Additionally, he pitched his cruises to jovial young people. Financially, the format was very successful.
