ABOUT TICKETMASTER
The American ticket sales and distribution company Ticketmaster Entertainment, Inc. has locations in numerous nations and is headquartered in Beverly Hills, California. Under the name Live Nation Entertainment, it merged with Live Nation in 2010.
For both primary and secondary markets, the company’s ticket sales are fulfilled digitally or at its two primary fulfillment centers in Charleston, West Virginia, and Pharr, Texas. Artists, promoters, and venues are some of Ticketmaster’s customers. Ticketmaster sells tickets that customers make available to themselves, while customers control their events and set ticket prices.
When tickets are purchased and resold on the platform, Ticketmaster charges a fee. Customers, musicians, and regulators have all scrutinized ticket sales fees, which can make up a significant portion of total ticket costs. The United States Department of Justice has been looking into the company’s retaliation against venues that broke its 2010 10-year consent decree from the Live Nation merger, which has been extended by 5 years from 2020 to 2025. The Department of Justice launched a formal investigation into Live Nation Entertainment on the grounds of monopoly, antitrust law, and violations of consumer rights following widespread criticism of the company’s handling of the pre-sale of Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour.
