ABOUT  BED BATH & BEYOND

The Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. retail chain is based in the United States. Numerous stores belonging to the chain can be found in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. In 1971, Bed Bath & Beyond was established. It is included in the Forbes Global 2000 and the Fortune 500.

Both Leonard Feinstein and Warren Eisenberg held managerial positions at Arlan’s, a chain of discount stores. They made the decision to leave the company and start their own because they thought the market would shift toward specialty stores and the company was having financial difficulties.

They opened a store called Bed ‘n Bath in 1971 in Springfield, New Jersey. Eisenberg and Feinstein had opened 17 stores in California and the New York metropolitan area by 1985. In an effort to remain competitive with Linens ‘n Things, Pacific Linen, and Luxury Linens, the first superstore opened in 1985 as well. In 1987, the company changed its name to Bed Bath & Beyond to accurately reflect the expansion of its retail locations. To better compete with Linens ‘n Things, which had been using computer inventory management since the late 1980s, the business implemented integrated computer-based inventory management systems in 1993.
