ABOUT BOOKING.COM
Bookings.nl was founded in 1996 by Universiteit Twente student Geert-Jan Bruinsma.
Bookings.nl merged with Bookings Online, which was founded by Sicco and Alec Behrens, Marijn Muyser, and Bas Lemmens and operated as Bookings.org, in 2000 to form Booking.com. Stef Noorden was appointed CEO and the name and URL were changed to Booking.com.
The company was acquired by Priceline Group (now Booking Holdings) for $133 million in July 2005. In September 2004, Priceline Group purchased ActiveHotels.com, a European online hotel reservation company, for $161 million.
