While CarMax stores sell used cars, Chrysler Corporation gave the company its first new car franchise in 1996. It added new Mitsubishi, Toyota, and Nissan vehicle franchises by 1999. The Rydell Company purchased CarMax’s final new car dealership in Kenosha, Wisconsin, at the end of 2021.
