ABOUT CHRYSLER

Walter Chrysler established the Chrysler corporation on June 6, 1925, when the Maxwell Motor Company (established 1904) into the Chrysler Corporation following a reorganization. Before moving to its current Auburn Hills location in 1996, the business had its headquarters in the Detroit suburb of Highland Park.

After performing a similar rescue mission at the Willys-Overland automobile company, Chrysler was hired to overhaul the troubled Maxwell-Chalmers business in the early 1920s. The Chalmers automobile’s production was halted toward the end of 1923.
