Over half a million people attended the exhibition, and after it was over, several Dutch business interests wanted to start a Dutch airline, which Plesman was chosen to run. The “Royal” (Koninklijke) predicate was given to the yet-to-be-established KLM by Queen Wilhelmina in September 1919.
