ABOUT SIRIUS XM

Sirius XM Holdings Inc. is a satellite radio and online radio service provider in the United States with its headquarters in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. Sirius XM Radio was created when XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio merged in 2008. Additionally, the business owns a 70% stake in Sirius XM Canada, an affiliate company that supplies Sirius and XM service to Canadians.

The merger of XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio, Inc. was approved by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on July 29, 2008, 17 months after the companies first proposed it. On May 21, 2013, Sirius XM Holdings, Inc. was incorporated. In January 2020, Sirius XM reorganized their corporate structure, making Sirius XM Radio Inc. a direct, wholly owned subsidiary of Sirius XM Holdings, Inc. The company that resulted from the merger had 18.5 million subscribers and was worth US$3.3 billion, including debt. Those who believed the merger would result in a monopoly opposed it. XM and Sirius argued that satellite radio’s survival depended on a merger.
