Spirit operates regularly scheduled flights throughout Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States. As of 2020, Spirit was the largest ultra-low-cost carrier and the eighth largest passenger carrier in North America.
JetBlue has offered to acquire Spirit for US$3.8 billion as of July 2022. The deal was approved by a majority of the airline’s voting shareholders on October 19, 2022; however, the offer still needs to be approved by government regulators.
