ABOUT SPRINT
An American telecommunications firm called Sprint Corporation formerly existed. It served 54.3 million users as of June 30, 2019, making it the fourth-largest mobile network provider in the US until its merger with T-Mobile US on April 1, 2020. Through its different subsidiaries, the firm also provided wireless phone, message, and broadband services under the Boost Mobile and Open Mobile brand names, as well as wholesale access to its wireless networks to mobile virtual network operators.
A portion of the business was acquired by the Japanese telecommunications firm SoftBank Group in July 2013. Sprint operated iDEN, WiMAX, and 5G NR networks in the past, in addition to CDMA, EvDO, and 4G LTE networks now. Kansas is where Sprint was incorporated.
The Brown Telephone Company, which was established in 1899 to provide telephone service to the outlying areas surrounding Abilene, Kansas, served as the precursor to Sprint. Sprint quit the local landline phone market in 2006 and spun off those assets into a new company called Embarq. Embarq then merged with Lumen Tech (formerly CenturyLink), which is still one of the biggest long-distance carriers in the US.
