Eric Baker and Jeff Fluhr, both investment bankers who had previously attended Stanford Business School, established StubHub in the year 2000. eBay purchased StubHub in 2007 for $310 million. Viagogo, led by Stubhub founder Eric Baker, bought the company for $4.05 billion on February 13, 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic stopped selling tickets.
In 2000, investment bankers Eric Baker and Jeff Fluhr, both former Stanford Business School students, established StubHub in San Francisco, California. In 2001, it signed a major sports contract with the Seattle Mariners.
Pequot Ventures, which is now FirstMark Capital, contributed between $10 million and $25 million to the company’s 2005 funding. In that year, the business had positive cash flow and made $50 million in sales. and brought in more than $200 million in sales.
