ABOUT SUN COUNTRY AIRLINES
Sun Country Airlines is an ultra-cheap passenger and cargo airline based in the United States that carries the eleventh most passengers of any airline. Sun Country operates more than 100 passenger routes between 81 destinations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, with a focus on Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Harry Reid International Airport. Its headquarters are located on the property of Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport.
Sun Country is a contract cargo operator for Amazon Air. In January 1983, a single Boeing 727-200 was used to begin flight operations for Sun Country. Sixteen pilots, sixteen flight attendants, three mechanics, and one office worker made up the airline’s initial workforce. Braniff International Airways, which ceased operations on May 12, 1982, employed a number of the initial employees. Captain Jim Olsen, who also served as Chief Pilot, was the founder of the business and served as its first President/CEO. Chief Flight Attendant and Head of In-Flight Operations were held by his wife, Joan Smith-Olsen.
