Scandinavian Airlines is more commonly known as SAS and is the flag carrier for Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The Scandinavian Airlines is an abbreviation of the company’s full name, Scandinavian Airlines System or legally Scandinavian Airlines System Denmark-Norway-Sweden. The SAS Group’s subsidiary, the airline is headquartered in Solna (Sweden) at the SAS Frosundavik Building Office Building. It operates 180 aircraft to 90 destinations (as per December 2019). The main hub of the airline is located at Copenhagen-Kastrup Airport. It has connections to 109 countries around the globe. Stockholm Arlanda Airport is the second-largest hub with 106 destinations. Oslo Airport, Gardermoen is the third major hub for SAS. Flesland Airport, Bergen Airport and Goteborg Landvetter Airport are also minor hubs. SAS Cargo, an independent subsidiary of Scandinavian Airlines, is headquartered at Copenhagen Airport.

You may be eligible for a refund if you are unable to travel or cancel your trip. Here are details about refunds and how you can apply for one.
REFUND RULES
The rules for refunds vary depending on whether SAS cancels the trip or you. These rules apply to trips you cancel without SAS cancelling it in advance.
GENERAL
Based on the ticket rules, the amount that can be refunded will vary. Some tickets can be refunded in full, while others require payment of a fee or are non-refundable. No matter what ticket type, taxes are always refunded when you cancel a trip. All refunds will be given to the original method of payment used at the time the purchase was made.
Please note! Cancellation fees, service charges and any travel additional (e.g., pre-selected seats, meals and lounge access will not be refunded.
TICKETS ARE FULLY REFUNDABLE
If you cancel your ticket within the 24-hour cancellation policy, or if one of these tickets was purchased, you are entitled to a complete refund.
- SAS Go Pro (except from/to China)
- SAS Plus Pro (except from/to China)
- SAS Business Pro (except from/to China)
- Star Alliance Bonus Tickets if cancelled no later than 24 Hours before your outbound departure.
- Only valid points can be refunded. Expired points cannot be refunded.
- Once you have started a bonus travel, there will be no points for your return trip.
Note: Travel Extras fees are non-refundable unless your ticket is canceled within our 24-hour cancellation policy.
REFUNDABLE TICKETS FOR A FEE
These ticket types are eligible for a refund:
- SAS Go Pro (only from/to China)
- SAS Plus Smart
- SAS Plus Pro (only to/from China
- SAS Business Smart (except for Canada and the USA)
- SAS Business Pro (only to/from China
- SAS Bonus Tickets
- Only valid points can be refunded. Expired points cannot be refunded.
NON-REFUNDABLE TICKES
Only the following ticket types are eligible for refunds:
- SAS Go Light
- SAS Go Smart
- SAS Business Smart (only available in Canada and the USA)
- SAS Youth Tickets
TICKETS PAYED WITH POINTS OR CASH
You must review the refund guidelines if you have paid for your ticket using EuroBonus points and another method of payment.
HOW TO CANCEL A TICKET
- Cancel your trip using the link provided in your confirmation email, or in My bookings. Depending on which card dealer, the ticket cost will not be charged. If the amount has already been charged, it will be credited back to the card used to pay for your trip.
- It usually takes between 3-5 banking days for the transaction to appear on your statement.
HOW TO REQUEST A REFUND
SAS ISSUES TICKETS
- Go to My Bookings
- Log in or enter your booking reference.
- To access the booking, click “Cancel and Return”.
- Click “Continue” to select the passengers and flights that you would like a refund.
For assistance, call SAS Customer Services if you are unable to apply online for your refund.
You can either rebook your flight to another one or request a refund in the form of a SAS travel voucher, or you can get your money back. You can do this in My Bookings
SAS TRAVEL VOUCHER
You can also choose a travel coupon if SAS cancels your flight.
You or another person can use the voucher to book trips to all SAS destinations. The validity of the voucher lasts for one year. Any remaining amount can be refunded after that time.
A TRAVEL AGENT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ISSUING TICKETS
We recommend that you contact the travel agent directly to request a refund on a flight booked through an online or travel agent. Fill out this online form.
VISA REJECTION – CANCELLATION
All documents pertaining to exit, health, and other matters required by law, regulation or order in the country concerned are your responsibility.
Except for travel to or from China, the only ticket that will be refunded is the fare paid. You can cancel a trip booked through SAS by uploading the official visa refusal.
CANCELLATION DUE to DEATH IN IMMEDIATE FAMILIES
We will refund your tickets and cancel your trip if there is a family member who has died. Please complete this online form
REFUND HANDLING
REFUND PROCESS
- Once we have processed your refund request, we will email you a notice with the amount to be refunded. For tickets purchased with points or cash, no refund notice will be issued.
- The original payment method used to purchase the amount will be used to refund the amount. It may take up to seven working days for the refund to appear in your statement after you have received the refund notice.
A LOWER REFUND THAN EXPECTED
The following conditions are required to get a refund of tickets:
- Your refundable amount will be determined if you cancel your booking prior to the airline cancelling your flight.
- Only taxes will be refunded for SAS Go Light and SAS Go Smart tickets. The Ticket fare and international-national fees/surcharges are not refunded.
- For example, if you purchased a ticket that was refundable for a fee the entire amount will be refunded.
- If you have booked a round trip but only wish to fly one direction, your refund will depend on the ticket rules. If this is the case, your refund will be issued after your trip has been completed.
