Cancellations and changes

Except for Blue Basic, there are no cancellation or change fees for most of our fares.
Blue Basic fares have a $100 change/cancel fee for travel within North America, Central America or the Caribbean. All other routes will incur a $200 change/cancel fee. The date of change and fare rules apply.

If you can provide the following information, you may cancel or change your reservation online:

  • Confirmation code/ticket number
  • Last name

Cancellations and changes must be made before the flight’s departure time. Cancellations by customers for any reason cannot be refunded.

For cancelling or changing reservations over the phone, there is a $25 fee. This fee includes any applicable fare fees. This $25 per-person fee can be saved by self-serving online via jetblue.com or by contacting us via chat.

Cancellations within 24 Hours

You have 24 hours to cancel your booking if your travel was booked 7 days or less prior to your scheduled departure date. You must cancel your entire booking to be eligible (not applicable to JetBlue Vacations reservations).
You can cancel your trip using the Manage Trips tool online or by calling JetBlue.

Your ticket type will determine your eligibility for a refund.

No-shows

Customers may be eligible for same-day changes if they make a request for a flight change prior to the scheduled departure time and on the same day.

All money associated with a JetBlue nonrefundable segment will be forfeited if it isn’t changed or cancelled before the scheduled departure. This includes any optional or extra purchases like Even More(r), Speed, bag fees, and so forth.

Nonrefundable & Refundable fares

Non-refundable fares

JetBlue nonrefundable fares allow for cancellations or changes to be made before departure. There is a per-person cancellation fee and an applicable airfare difference. Any balance remaining will be issued as JetBlue travel credits and can be used towards future JetBlue travel. You can access your Travel Bank account to view credit expiration dates.

Refundable fares

JetBlue refundable tickets allow for cancellations and changes prior to departure. All changes are subject to availability, and any applicable airfare difference.

All money associated with a refundable flight segment that is not cancelled or changed prior to the scheduled departure date will be issued as JetBlue travel credits and can be used for future JetBlue travel. You can access your Travel Bank account to view credit expiration dates.

Switching in a single day

JetBlue customers can make a confirmed same day switch for $75 (no fare differential applies). Same-day switches can only be made on the same day as travel and must begin at midnight in your departure time zone.

This option for a same-day change is only available to cities that have multiple flights per day.

Standby

Standby travel depends on availability and may not be guaranteed. There is an additional $75 fee depending on the fare.

You must have purchased a JetBlue seat in order to travel standing-by. Standby may be listed on any flight that is sold out between the same cities on the exact same calendar day, as your confirmed departure.

Cancelling or changing your reservation

  • You can modify your reservation by following the instructions.

Plan your trips Section of jetblue.com Contact JetBlue. Please complete the following:

  • Confirmation number
  • Number of flights
  • Dates of travel
  • Customer information (e.g., name, DOB, contact information, etc.)
  • Additional or ancillary purchase are not eligible for refund if the entire booking has been cancelled before departure.This applies to any additional or optional purchases, such as even more space, speed, bag fees, and so forth.

Cancellations of nonrefundable fares are put into a JetBlue credit that is valid for future JetBlue travel. You can access your credit expiration dates by accessing your Travel Bank account.

Refunds policy

It is possible for travel plans to change without notice. You will have to cancel your reservation if you are no longer travelling, and your ticket type determines your refund eligibility.

Policy on refunded fare

Cancellations of JetBlue refundable tickets are allowed up to 48 hours before the departure date for a full reimbursement.

All money associated with a refundable reservation that is not cancelled or changed prior to departure will be put in a JetBlue Travel Bank Credit. This credit can be used for future travel.

Some flights may not offer refunds.

Reservations that are partially used

You can cancel any remaining travel once a portion has been used. Your refund amount will be equal to the one-way airfare for that portion. JetBlue may not operate a part of your travel as planned.

No missed or show

To receive a refund, you must cancel or change your flight fare prior to the departure time.

JetBlue will refund any money that is associated with a missed flight. Travel Bank Credit for future travel.

Refundable fare rules

  • Refundable fares reservations can be cancelled or changed up to the time of departure. Changes to the itinerary are subject to availability and an increase in airfare.
  • Any unused funds after departure will be converted into a JetBlue credit, which is valid for future trips. You can view your Travel Bank statement to see when travel credit expires.
  • Corrections of names are allowed.
  • All fares subject to change after purchase.
  • Some flights may not offer refunds.
  • JetBlue Vacations packages do not offer refunds.

Request a refund on the website

JetBlue allows you to request a refund on your airline tickets by following these simple steps:

  1. Visit the JetBlue Website
  2. Select My Travels in the menu banner at top of page. Next, go to Manage Your Trips
  3. Choose the flight that you wish to cancel
  4. Click Continue
  5. Click the Refund Button
  6. Select your bank
  7. Please enter the details of your credit card on which you want to get the refund and click “confirm”.

After this, you will be notified by phone or email that your request for a refund has been accepted.
