Fitbit, also known as fitbit, is an American fitness and consumer electronics company. It makes wireless-enabled wearable technology and physical fitness monitors. Alphabet, Inc. purchased the company in January 2021.

Fitbit was the fifth-largest wearable technology company by shipments in 2019. Fitbit has sold over 120 million devices, and 29 million customers in more than 100 countries.

Required Fitbit Setup Information

You must have an account with Fitbit to make full use the Fitbit products or services. This requires a compatible iPhone/Android device. Please review the requirements to set up your Fitbit products or services.

Account Requirements:

At the moment, you need to use a Fitbit account. We will ask you for information like your name, email address and password.

We plan to launch Fitbit Google accounts in 2023. This will allow Fitbit users with a Google account to use Fitbit. For example, Fitbit users who want to use the app for other purposes will need a Google account after this launch.

After the launch of Google Fitbit accounts, Fitbit users will be able to either move Fitbit to their Google account or continue using Fitbit with their Fitbit account as long as it’s supported. Fitbit accounts will continue to be supported up until at least 2025. Fitbit will no longer be supported by Fitbit accounts. Compatible with most smartphones and tablets. You must download the Fitbit App on a compatible device that runs one of these operating systems in order to set up and use the Fitbit products or services.

How do I create a Fitbit Account and connect my Fitbit Device?

See below to add a Fitbit device or replace an existing one. How can I add a new device to my account or replace an old one?

  1. Before you start the setup process, connect your Fitbit device with the charger.
  2. To set up Fitbit devices using an Android phone, you will receive a notification on your phone. To set up your device, follow the steps on the screen. The notification will take you to the Google Play Store to install the Fitbit app.
  1. Install the Fitbit app at one of these locations.
  1. Tap Join Fitbit in the Fitbit App.
  2. Follow the instructions on screen to create a Fitbit Account and pair your Fitbit device with your phone. Pairing allows your Fitbit device to communicate with your phone (sync their information).

Note: When creating a Fitbit account you will be asked to enter your birthdate, height, weight and sex in order to calculate stride length, basal metabolic rate, calorie burn, and distance. How does my Fitbit device determine my daily activity? All Fitbit users will see your profile picture, first name, and last initial. Although you have the option of sharing other information, most information that you provide when creating an account is kept private.

Notification: Charge 5 may allow your phone to share your location with your tracker in order to speed up the process of connecting to GPS satellites. You must ensure that the Fitbit app has permission to access your location. You can find instructions in the Apple help page and the Google Android help article.

How do I Set up Google Pixel Watch and connect with my Fitbit account

  1. Before you start the setup, connect the Google Pixel Watch to your charger.
  2. For 3 seconds, turn on Google Pixel Watch. Press the crown.
  3. Place your watch next to an Android phone that supports Bluetooth. To begin the setup process, a notification will appear on your phone. Download the Google Pixel Watch App and follow the instructions to connect your watch with your Google account. To get more information and troubleshooting tips, please see Setting up Google Pixel Watch.
  4. Connect your Fitbit account after you have set up your watch.

Need to create a fitbit account

  1. Download the Fitbit App to Your Phone.
  2. Open the Fitbit App, tap Join Fitbit and follow the instructions to create a Fitbit Account and connect your watch with your account.

I have a Fitbit Account

  1. Open the Fitbit App on your smartphone and tap Log in.
  2. Tap the Today tab to view your profile picture + Create a device.
  3. Tap Google Pixel Watch to open the list of devices. Follow the on-screen instructions for connecting your watch to your account.

Make sure your Fitbit app is up-to-date if you are having trouble connecting your watch with your Fitbit account. Next, connect your watch to your Fitbit account again.

  1. To open the app, press the crown and swipe up to the Play Store app.
  2. Swipe up to tap Manage  Update all.

These steps will help you connect your watch if you are still having trouble.
