How to activate your credit card
You must be enrolled online banking to activate your new card. Keep your card close at hand. To activate your card, you will need to enter the 3-digit security number on the back.
Capital One credit cards are available to those who already have them
You will need to connect your new credit card account with your existing. Follow the instructions under Consolidate your Accounts.
After you have linked your credit cards accounts, you can activate the new card.
Activate your debit card
Activation is quick and easy once your card has been received.
Go to capital.one/debit to activate your debit card. Or follow these steps:
Step 1:
Log in to your Capital One Mobile account. To download the app, text “GET” to 80101
Step 2:
Select the account that is linked to your debit card.
Step 3:
Near the Debit Card Tracker, look for a button that activates your card.
Step 4:
Follow the steps and select “Activate My Card”. To activate your card, you may need to enter a PIN.
Activate your debit card now. Log in to your account.

Modify Your PIN
You can easily change your debit card pin online or via the mobile app.
Step 1:
Register online at Capitalone.com, or via the Capital One mobile application (text “MOBILE” to 80101 to receive a download link)

How to report your missing card online or via the Capital One mobile app:

- Register online at Capitalone.com
- Choose the spending account to use with your debit card
- Select “account settings and services”
- Select “replace lost cards” under “manage debit card” and then follow the steps
The app:
- Register on Capital One’s mobile app. Text “MOBILE” (80101) to receive a download link.
- Choose the spending account to use with your debit card
- Select “view all” in the “I want …”” menu.
- Scroll down to “replace missing cards” and follow these steps.

Make a deposit
These are some of the ways that you can deposit money into your account.
Step 1:
You can link your checking and savings accounts to another bank account. This allows you to transfer funds easily between your accounts.

Step 2: Mobile Deposit
Mobile Deposit allows you to deposit checks from any location in the U.S. or U.S territories. To take a photo of your check, use our mobile app.
- Open the Capital One Mobile App and choose your account.
- Click on the “deposit” button next to your camera icon.
- Before taking your photo, take photos of the front (and back) of your check. Please write Capital One mobile deposit and sign your name on it.
- Follow the prompts for filling out the deposit amount.
- To complete your deposit, slide your finger across the green button.
Step 3: ATM Deposit
You can deposit checks at an ATM located near Capital One Cafe and Capital One Bank locations. Find out if there is a one close to you.
Step 4: Direct Deposit
Direct deposit can be set up by providing your Capital One account number, routing number, and employer to which you are connected. This information is also available:
- Sign into the app and choose your bank account. Scroll down to “account Info” and click “show more.”
- Online – Sign in to select your bank account. Click “View Details” in the upper left corner under the name of the account.
Direct deposit can also be set up by printing our blank form and filling out your information.

International ATM fees
Learn what you can expect when using your debit cards abroad.
For 360 products (360 Checking, Money, etc.) There are no additional fees for using your debit card abroad. This includes any transaction in foreign currency that MasterCard(r) or is classified as a cross-border transaction.
We may charge $2 plus 3% for non-360 products such as Total Control Checking, Essential Checking, and other products when you withdraw money from an international ATM. This is not applicable to the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S Virgin Islands.
