Greyhound Lines, Inc. is the operator of Greyhound Mexico, North America’s largest intercity bus service. It also provides charter bus services and Amtrak Thruway, commuter, and package delivery services. Greyhound has 1,700 coach buses manufactured mainly by Motor Coach Industries, Prevost and serving 1,700 destinations and 230 stations. In 1914, the company began its first route in Hibbing (Minnesota), and in 1929 the Greyhound name was adopted. Flix North America, Inc., a subsidiary of Flixbus, owns the company and has its headquarters in Downtown Dallas.
Greyhound Refund Policy
You can apply for a refund by confirming your eligibility. Your eligibility depends on which ticket you bought.
- Flexible tickets can be refunded
- Other fares cannot be refunded
You can exchange or request a refund if you purchase a flexible ticket. You cannot request a refund if you purchase any other type of fare.
Greyhound will refund your ticket
You could be eligible for a refund if the flexible ticket was purchased:
- You have not used your ticket
- You have used only half of a round trip ticket. If the return portion of the ticket is not used, the remainder of the ticket will be refunded.
- Ask for a refund prior to the travel date on your original ticket
You cannot get a refund if you:
- Both halves of your round-trip ticket have been used.
- You lost your ticket
- The bus arrived late
- You have already purchased a full-priced ticket
A discounted ticket is available to you, but you must ask before you purchase. You won’t receive a refund if you don’t do this.
Cancel Greyhound Ticket
You can cancel a flexible ticket if you are not satisfied with the service.
- You have not used your ticket in any way
- You can only use the ticket for one-half of the round trip. If you don’t return the ticket, the refund will be issued.
- You submitted your refund request prior to the travel date for your original ticket.
You cannot cancel your ticket if you violate these conditions:
- You have lost your ticket
- If the bus is late, it will be reported.
- You have purchased a full-priced ticket
- You have used only a portion of the round-trip ticket
How to Cancel a Ticket Online
Online cancellation requests are the most popular, but they can be time-consuming and may take several days before you hear back from the company. Follow these steps to cancel or request a refund.

- Enter your confirmation number and email ID
- Click on submit
Cancelling a Greyhound Ticket? Request a Refund In-person
You can cancel your ticket in person by going to the nearest bus station. Follow the steps below to do so.
- Give your photo identity.
- The confirmation mail will contain the reference number for your booking. You must get it and give it to the clerk.
- Wait until the clerk prints the tickets.
- To complete the application, you will need to sign it twice.

- Click to Request a Refund
- Please confirm your number
- Enter your email
- Click on “Submit”
How to request a Greyhound refund in-person
You can request a Greyhound bus ticket refunded in person at your nearest Greyhound station.
- Your photo ID must be provided.
- Keep the confirmation email’s reference number with you.
- Give the clerk the reference number.
- Wait for the clerk’s help to print the tickets.
- Two signatures are required to complete the application.

Requesting a refund via mail can slow down the process and cause delays. You can request a Greyhound refund by mail if you are interested.
- Return your original ticket.
- Send a request to be refunded.

- All items should be packed together.
