Sometimes, you might accidentally place an order. Or find the exact same item at a different retailer for a lower price. In these cases, you will need to cancel the order. It is easy to cancel an order placed at Walmart online.

Walmart Return Policy

For almost everything Walmart sells, returns are possible. Walmart.com shows you the most recent eligible date to return or replace an item. However, it is recommended that you keep track of any manufacturer packaging and receipts for at least 90 days.

This policy is applicable to products returned from Walmart U.S., Walmart.com, Walmart Business or Marketplace sellers on Walmart.com.

Your order

You cannot return, exchange, or refund items purchased through resellers or dealers and not Walmart.com.

Walmart.com allows you to return items that have been purchased.

You can return or exchange items purchased and shipped by Walmart within 90 days of receipt.

In store purchases

You can return or exchange items bought in-store at Walmart within 90 days of receipt. Review the exceptions to our corporate Return Policy to ensure that your item in-store can be returned.

Extended holiday returns

Most items that were purchased online or in-store between October 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022, are eligible for return until January 31, 2023. Participation by marketplace sellers varies. For more information, please refer to the Return Policy.

Items that are damaged or not working properly

You can return any item purchased from Walmart.com if it is damaged or defective.

How to return items that you don’t like

It’s easy to return items by mail or in-store if something isn’t what you expected.

For items purchased online or in-store, you can choose the method that works best for you.

Use the app

Log in to the Walmart app to get started. Follow the links in the app to start the return process. Before you can begin, your receipt must be uploaded to the app. This can be done at any time, whether you are at home on your sofa or at work in your office. Once you have dropped off your return at the store, scan the QR code on your smartphone and hand it to the customer service representative.

Returning online orders by mail

You have two options to return items purchased online: by mail or in-store. Log in to your account on the website to initiate the return process. Navigate to the item that you wish to return by clicking on “purchase history”. Click on the item to “start a return” You can use this option to create a return shipping label using your printer. If possible, ensure that your item is in its original packaging and all accessories are included. Send the item back with the shipping label attached. Once the item is received, a refund or replacement will be issued.

Store returns are not available for non-app items

It’s also possible to return the item in-store without using the app. All original packaging, accessories and materials must be included with the item. Bring the receipt if you have it. The customer service representative who helped you can also help you retrieve the details of your purchase if you don’t have the original receipt. To get your refund processed, bring the item and all packaging with you, including the receipt. If you do not have a receipt or email address, your return will be processed at the most recent sale price and the money will be credited to a gift card in the store.

Returning to a Marketplace Partner

Marketplace partners may be selling many of the products you see on the website. These partners offer a greater selection at a lower price.

You can send a mail return. Log in to your account to start one. Walmart account You can access it from your desktop or mobile device, or you can contact Customer Care.

Most Marketplace items can be returned to Walmart. You must return the item in its original packaging. There are some exceptions.

Most items are eligible for free return shipping and no restocking fees. Please refer to the “Return Policy” link at the item page for additional details.

Special shipping requirements for Haz-mat and freight items must be discussed with the Marketplace partner.

If you have any questions regarding the product, but do not wish to return it you can click on the “Contact seller” button in the product details section of your account once you are logged in to the website.

Walmart – Refunds

Walmart.com returns received in-store and by mail will be refunded to the original payment method. Return shipping charges for outbound orders are not usually refunded. This includes regular and freight shipping as well as any surcharges.

Credit or debit card

Refunds on credit cards and debit cards will be made available within 10 business days.

Any refund issued to a credit or debit card used for purchase is processed to the same card. If your original card is lost or isn’t available to scan the receipt, the refund will be processed on a Walmart gift card or shopping card.

If the purchase was a debit transaction the refund will be placed on the debit card if it is available, or cash can also be provided.

Return items in-store without a receipt

If you do not have your receipt, please show us your valid government-issued photo ID. Your return will be accepted if your ID information matches the one in our secure database.

Then, you can choose one of these options:

  • You can exchange the item for another one.
  • If the item returned is less than $10, you can get a cash refund.
  • If the item being returned is less than or equal to $10, you can get a Walmart gift card or shopping card.
  • Send the item to the manufacturer if possible.

Edit or cancel an order

If you see the option in your Purchase History to cancel your order, you can. You will receive an email confirmation if we are able to cancel your order.

These steps will help you determine if you can cancel an order or item.

  1. Select Account.
  2. Select Purchase History.
  3. Find the order that you wish to cancel.
  4. Scroll down and choose Request Cancellation if you are eligible.

You can cancel your order if you are unable to do so.

Modify an order

When the order is still being processed, you can make any changes to a pickup/delivery order. Here’s how:

  1. Select Account.
  2. Select Purchase History.
  3. Select Edit.

These changes can be made:

  • You can add or remove items
  • You can increase or decrease the quantities
  • Accept or deny substitutions
  • Reschedule your timeslot
  • Choose a different store location

The order amount could be increased or decreased by making changes. For orders below $35, we charge a fee and for orders above $35, we remove the fee.
