How to create a PayPal account

PayPal offers two types of accounts: personal and business.

Here are the steps to create a PayPal account.

  1. Scroll to then click Register at top of page.
  2. Select your account type, then click Next.
  3. Enter a number.
  4. Enter the 6-digit code that was sent to you by your phone number.
  5. If the code didn’t reach you, you can either resend it to yourself or call with a code.
  6. Create a password by entering your email address.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Please enter the information required.
  9. Accept and read the PayPal Privacy Statement, User Agreement, and Electronic Communications Delivery Policy.
  10. Click on the “Agree” button to create an account.

Your new PayPal account can be used immediately.

How to confirm my number with PayPal

Here are the steps to confirm and add your phone number

  1. Go to your Setting.
  2. If you are updating your phone number, you can click on the “Phone numbers” section and click + Add New or Change. Keep the window open and log in.
  3. Enter your phone number and choose the type of phone.
  4. Click To Add Phone Number.
  5. To confirm, choose Text or Call.
  6. Enter the confirmation code, and then click Validate.

Tips:

  • PayPal accounts can only be confirmed by one number.
  • Confirmation codes expire 10 minutes after they are issued.
  • You can click on Resend if you haven’t received a code.

How to confirm my email address

We automatically send you an email confirmation email when you add an email address. You may not receive the email. Please check your spam folder and confirm that you have entered the correct email address.

You will receive an email with the following instructions:

  1. Click the email link.
  2. Enter your PayPal password.
  3. Click Confirm.

You can resend an email using a web browser:

  1. Go to your Setting page
  2. Click Confirm in the “Email” section.
  3. Click To confirm this email address.

To send an email again using the PayPal app:

  1. Tap your profile photo.
  2. Tap Account Information.
  3. Tap Email Addresses.

Tap on the email address that you wish to confirm and then tap Resend confirmation.

How to link my bank account to my PayPal

Here’s how you can instantly link your bank account to your PayPal Account:

  1. At the top of this page, click Wallet.
  2. Click To Link a Bank Account.
  3. Click to select your bank.
  4. You may be able to link your bank immediately using your online banking login information, depending on which bank you choose. If instant link is not available, you can manually enter your bank account details and click Accept and Link.

Here are the steps to manually link your bank account to PayPal:

  1. At the top of this page, click Wallet.
  2. Click on the bank that you wish to confirm.
  3. Click To link your bank in another way, enter account information.
  4. Enter the amounts of both deposits to your account. Enter, for example, $.05 and $.15 as deposits.
  5. Click Submit.

Note:

  • Banks may combine two small deposits into one lump sum. Contact us if you receive only one small deposit.
  • These small deposits will be temporarily removed from your bank account. You’ll see a PayPal debit of $.20 on your bank statement if the deposits exceed $.05 or $.15.

To add a bank to the PayPal App:
1. Tap Wallet.

  1. Tap +at Banks and Cards.
  2. Tap Banks.
  3. Log in to your online bank and instantly link your account. You can also manually add your bank.

Option 1 – Link a bank account immediately on the PayPal app:
You will need your username and password to link your bank account online. This information will be matched with your bank to confirm account ownership. After entering the correct information, your bank account will instantly be confirmed.

Option 2 – You can link and confirm your bank account via the PayPal app.
You will be asked to confirm your bank account if you manually enter your bank account number. This step is required before you can make payments to your PayPal account or add money to it.

You will find two small deposits, each between $0.01 and $0.99 USD, on your bank statement within three business days. To find out the exact amount of these deposits, you can contact your bank. You can confirm your deposit online using this information. Or, follow these steps:

Bank Transfer
You can link a bank account and transfer money from PayPal Balance to your bank account in two ways.

Instant transfer from your bank account or debit card
This type of transfer is quick and easy, but it does come with a fee.

  1. Click To Transfer Money Below Your PayPal Balance.
  2. Click Transfer your bank.
  3. Click Next to select your bank account or debit card under the “Instant” section.
  4. Enter the amount that you wish to transfer.
  5. After reviewing the details of your transfer click Transfer $XX now.
  6. To complete the transfer, click Done

Standard Transfer to Your Bank Account
This type of transfer is free and takes between 1-3 business days*.

  1. Click To Transfer Money Below Your PayPal Balance.
  2. Click Transfer your bank.
  3. Click Next to select your bank account from the “Standard” section.
  4. Please fill in the amount that you wish to transfer.
  5. After reviewing the details of your transfer click Transfer (amount).

To complete the transfer, click Done.

How to add, update or remove a card from my account

Add a card

Here’s how you can link a card to the PayPal app.

  1. Tap to your wallet.
  2. Tap + next to Banks and Cards.
  3. Tap Credit cards and debit cards.
  4. You can either manually link your card or connect your PayPal account with your bank. Choose To link a card manually, enter card details or scan the card.

Here’s how to use your computer.

  1. At the top of this page, click wallet.
  2. Click Link to a debit/credit card.
  3. Complete the information and click Save.

Verified users may add up to 24 cards. Each credit card or pre-paid card can only be registered to ONE PayPal account.

Update a card

Here are the steps to update your card information using the PayPal app.

  1. Tap to your wallet.
  2. Tap Edit on the card you wish to update.

Here’s how to use your computer:

  1. At the top of this page, click wallet
  2. Click the card you wish to update.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Complete the updated information and click Save.

Remove a card

Here’s how you can remove your card from the PayPal app.

  1. Tap to your wallet.
  2. Select the card that you wish to delete and tap Remove.

Here’s how to use your computer:

  1. At the top of this page, click wallet.
  2. Select the card you want to modify.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Click To remove card.

To verify validity, the equivalent to US$ 1.00 is placed on your card each time you add or update information. This is not a charge, and the amount will be released in a short period. If you do not see the item after 30 days, please contact your credit card issuer.

How to send money

PayPal allows you to send money or make payments to anyone who has an email address or a mobile number.

Here’s how you can send money from your computer:

  1. At the top of this page, click Send and Request.
  2. Enter the name of the recipient, PayPal username, email address, or mobile number, and then click Next.
  3. Enter the amount and choose the currency. If necessary, add a note and click Continue.
  4. Choose from “Paying for an item/service” or “Sending a friend”.
  5. Click Next to select how much you wish to pay.
  6. After reading the information, click Send payment now.

Here are some ways to send money to the

PayPal App:

  1. Tap payments and then tap pay.
  2. Enter the name of the recipient, PayPal username, email, or mobile number.
  3. Enter the amount and choose the currency. Add a message (optional), then tap Next.
  4. Choose how much you would like to pay, then tap Next.
  5. Tap Next and select “Friends and Families” or “Goods and services”.
  6. Click Send to view the details.
Notes:
  • You cannot cancel or reverse a transaction once you have sent money. Before you send the payment, please make sure to read the transaction details.
  • When you are purchasing something, choose “Paying for an item/service” or “Goods and Services.” The seller will charge a small amount to get your money when you make a purchase.
  • Send money to friends or family members by selecting “Sending to Friends” or “Friends & Family”. Personal payments to friends and family members are free of charge if you use your PayPal balance or bank account. A small fee will apply if you use a debit card or credit card.

You can’t send the correct amount or select the wrong payment method (“Sending a friend” instead of “Paying for an article or service”), and the recipient will need to request a reimbursement. The recipient cannot issue a refund via the PayPal website. You must confirm receipt of an item or service you purchased, but you are sending it to a friend or relative.

I forgot my password. What can I do to reset my password

If you’ve forgotten your PayPal password:

  1. Visit our Login Page.
  2. Click Forgot password?
  3. Click Next and enter the email address that you used to pay PayPal. If you have forgotten your email address, click Forgot Your Email?
  4. Select the method you prefer to pass our security check, and then click Next.
  5. After you have completed the security check, you will be asked to create a new passcode.

Forgot your password?

  1. Tap Forgot your password? at the app login screen.
  2. Tap Next and enter the email address that you used to sign up for PayPal. (If you have forgotten your email address, tap Have you lost your email address?
  3. Select how you would like to complete our security screening and tap Next.

Some security checks may include:

  • Call us. You’ll see a code at the screen. When you receive our call, use the code.
  • Receive a text: We’ll text you a 6-digit code. Enter the code and click Next.
  • Receive an email: We’ll email you a 6-digit code. Enter the code and click ContinueYou may be asked to confirm your card number.
  • Answer security question. Enter your answers, and then click Continue. You may be asked to confirm your card number.
  • Use Facebook Messenger to confirm your request. We’ll send you an SMS with a 6-digit code via Messenger. Enter the code and click Confirm.

Sign into Google. Enter your Google login details and click Next.
