TJ Maxx, also known as T*J*maxx, is an American department store chain that sells at lower prices than major stores. It is one of the most prominent clothing retailers in America with more than 1000 stores. TJ Maxx is TJX Companies’ flagship store. It sells clothing and shoes for men, women, and children, as well as toys, beauty, accessories, and furniture.

Marshalls and TJ Maxx are sister stores and have a similar footprint across the country. Although their prices are almost identical and the store layouts are similar, Marshalls is more expensive than TJ Maxx[citation required] and sells a wider range of accessories and fine jewelry. The Runway is a designer department at some high-volume stores.

Not what you expected? It’s not a problem. Returns are free in-store and so easy by mail.

You can return your online order if you are not completely satisfied. Returns are accepted with your receipt and your shipping confirmation email. Your receipt is the packing slip that you received with your order.

Check if the item you are returning is eligible. Some items may not be returnable due to final sale restrictions. This information is located in the returns section of your receipt. This information is also available on the product description page. You can review it before you make your purchase. Be sure to read the terms and conditions for any return method you choose (either in-store or by mail).

Tjmaxx.com items cannot be returned to a T.J. Maxx store or the T.J. Maxx online warehouse. Please refer to this return policy. Marshalls or any of our sister brands cannot return items purchased at Tjmaxx.Com.

Returns by Mail

Returns via mail will be accepted provided they reach our warehouse within 40 business days. To return by mail quickly, please use the return shipping labels we have included with your receipt. A $10.99 return shipping and handling fee will be added to your store credit or refund. You can drop off your label at the shipping address indicated on the label. Include your receipt or a copy your shipping confirmation email in your return package. You will be issued merchandise credit for returns that are received at the warehouse after 40 days. You can return your online order to T.J.Maxx stores near you in order to avoid handling and shipping charges.

Returning In Store

You can return your item(s) in store within 40 days from the date of your order. You can return your purchase in-store if you have the receipt or email confirmation of your order.
For any return in-store, your signature is required. You will need a government-issued photo ID with your name, address, signature, and name. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for more information about how we handle and use your data.

Issuance Of Refunds

All refunds will credit your original payment method or merchandise credit in the following manner:

  • You will be eligible for a cash refund or credit if you send us a copy of the receipt/packing slip, or a shipping confirmation email within forty days from your order date.
  • You will be eligible for merchandise credit if you send us a shipping confirmation email or a receipt/packing slip more than 40 days after the order date.
  • You will get merchandise credit when you present a gift receipt.
  • You will not be eligible for merchandise credit if you do not have a receipt, packing slip, or shipping confirmation email.
  • When items are returned, they will be issued merchandise credit. This credit can be redeemed at any T.J.Maxx store.
  • Except for defective merchandise, return shipping and handling charges are not refundable.

Terms of In-Store Merchandise Credit

Merchandise credit is subject to the Terms & Conditions printed on it and imposed by issuer, which may include transfer restrictions. For non-receipted returns, a valid government issued photo ID, name and address are required. Signature may also be required in order to use the merchandise credit. The name printed on merchandise credit must match that on the photo ID. Otherwise, the credit will not be accepted.

Refund Processing Time

  • Your account will be credited for returns by mail within 10 to 14 days of receiving your qualifying tjmaxx.com Return. This is dependent on the billing cycle and your bank. After we receive the eligible return, merchandise credits will be issued.
  • Refunds for returns in-store will be made to the original payment method or the merchandise credit. It may take up to a few days for your bank to post the refund to your account.

PayPal Returns

  • In-Store: Any purchase made using PayPal that is returned to T.J.Maxx will be refunded in the form a merchandise credit.
  • By Post: All PayPal orders that are returned via mail will be issued a charge credit less the $10.99 handling and return shipping fee.

Apple Pay Returns

  • Customers will need to bring their receipts or email confirmations to the register indicating Apple as a tender type.
  • Follow the current procedure for refunds if the customer is unable to provide either.
  • Customer will be asked by the associate if they have the original credit card used to make the Apple Pay purchase.
  • The associate can issue a refund if the customer has the original credit card that was used to make the Apple Pay purchase.
  • If the customer doesn’t have the Apple Pay with credit card, the associate will continue to follow the store operations and refund any card.

 Exceptions & Special Instructions  

  • Online returns are not possible for merchandise purchased in-store.
  • Returns or merchandise credits will not be granted for merchandise that has been worn or used.
  • Many retailers are vulnerable to fraudulent returns. Our refund verification systems are used to verify returns and allow for the processing of them.
  • Returns of items over $1000 are not possible in-store.
  • In-store returns are not possible for handbags above $499.99
  • In-store returns are not possible for long occasion gowns
  • You cannot return beauty items that have been opened or altered.
  • There may be other restrictions.

Gift cards

Returns are not possible on gift cards.

Exchanges

Online orders cannot be exchanged due to the constantly changing inventory.
